Permaculture is a practice that is steeped in deep observation, understanding relationships, and designing systems that meet our needs while simultaneously caring for the Earth and providing for future generations.

Using nature as our guide and mentor, we can interact with the world in ways that are regenerative, fun, and fulfilling.

This six hour class will provide you with a foundational understanding of what permaculture is (and isn't) - the history, ethics, principles, and design process. Come prepared to interact, be creative, and spend time indoors and out.

Global Sisterhood at White Rose Farm

"Profound and uplifting," were the words one woman used to describe a gathering of our circle of the Global Sisterhood (sister.unify.org). The group is calling for a movement of soulful women around the world focused on transforming themselves and the world to create harmony and health for all. They are asking women to meet at every new moon to embody transformative leadership.

This month theme is Cherished Body: I Honor my Body as a Sacred Temple.

Even before we knew the theme, Renee Deiaco had planned to facilitate our circle. She will present easy-to-follow Qigong movements from the Radiant Lotus Women's Qigong. This program is an empowering practice of self-care for women and emphasizes a supportive, nurturing environment for women's healing. Renee is certified as a instructor by Daisy Lee, who shares teachings from her Tibetan Chinese and Western teachers in Radiant Lotus Women's Qigong.

Renee has studied several styles of Qigong and is also an Usui Reiki Master & Holy Fire Karuna Reiki Master. She offers to assist us to expand our own abilities and heal ourselves through Infinite Universal Love of Reiki and Qigong.

The event will be held at the Retreat House, 4234 Ruggles Road, Taneytown. It is free and we are taking donations to support refugee women throughout the world. RSVP here as space is limited.

Sacred Women's Circle at White Rose Farm

Spend the day with other women, reflecting on your life and the seasons of life.

My friend, Gwen Marable, encouraged me to create a Sacred Women's Circle at White Rose Farm. We envisioned a women's circle meeting regularly eight times a year at the changing of the seasons--with the land supporting the circle; the circle supporting the land.

We appreciate coming together on a regular basis, savoring time and space to listen to each other and reflect on our lives as we share our journeys. The passing of the seasons becomes more present to us.

The circle is open to all the women in our larger network: some come once; others return again and again. Please call with questions (410-756-9303). We suggest a donation of $25 for each event,  with a discounted suggestion of $15 for first-time participants. Bring food to share. RSVP as space is limited. The event will be held at 5009 Teeter Road, Taneytown.

Color Me Brite: De-Stressing with Coloring

Color Me Brite: Another holistic modality for dealing with stress. De-stress with coloring.

Sharpen your colored pencils and dig out your favorite markers because staying inside the lines isn't just for kids. Coloring gives people a creative outlet as well as a low-stress concentration and exertion with bright colors that can lower anxiety. Coloring also lets the brain free up thoughts to think about people value in life and divert energy into something constructive. Studies show coloring can have a calming effect on the mind and helps promote overall wellness. A study in the journal Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association found that just 30 minutes of an artistic activity, like coloring, is enough to reduce anxiety levels.

Come out and join the circle for an evening of fun, relaxation and color. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your favorite coloring materials as well.

Sessions are held the 1st Thursday on these months: February, March, April, May and June.
Location: St Mark Lutheran Church, 129 Charles St., Hanover, PA 17331.
Please enter by Willow St. the red door entrance (office entrance) closest to the hospital. Park on the street.
