Writing Retreat- The Flame in Every Hand: Writing as a Contemplative Act (Friday 4:00 pm - Sunday 2:00 pm)

paint.jpg
.We've gathered for this Contemplative Writing Retreat for more than 26 years now, and we're welcoming you to come & join us - again, or for the first time - for a retreat that has always shown itself to be Wondrous, Joyful and Inspiring. We will gather at a NEW LOCATION this year: the SILVER SPRING HISTORIC WAUGH WILSON HOUSE RETREAT CENTER in Mechanicsburg, PA. We decided to move to this new facility because it offers much more comfortable accommodations all around - all indoor dwelling, heat, AC, fireplace, very comfortable dormitory-style rooms with comfortable mattress-ed bunk-beds and indoor multiple bathrooms / showers. THIS RETREAT IS LIMITED TO 30 OVERNIGHT PARTICIPANTS (zoning regulations) SO REGISTER EARLY! However, ADDITIONAL DAY ATTENDANTS ARE WELCOME (beyond the initial 30) if they sleep or live nearby.

We'll share together in the experiences of Contemplative Writing Experiments, Chanting and Kirtan with harmonium and guitar, the practice of Sitting Meditation and more. We'll move deeply into the rich loam and ancient archetypes present in old mythologies and folktales from many of the cultures on this old Earth, and we'll sing and dance and laugh, whisper, wander, write, wail and read aloud in this beautiful old historic house.

There will be ample opportunity for participants to read their work aloud, or listen as they like. As always, the retreat is OPEN TO BOTH EXPERIENCED & FIRST-TIME WRITERS ALIKE, and is uniquely designed to accommodate both in an atmosphere that is simultaneously safe & welcoming on one hand, and energetically stimulating & challenging on the other. The price for this year's Retreat is only $160 (if registered / paid by August 21st - after that it's $200), and includes all activities, lodging Friday & Saturday nights, 3 delicious vegetarian meals on Saturday, as well as breakfast & lunch on Sunday.

Again, THIS RETREAT IS LIMITED TO 30 OVERNIGHT PARTICIPANTS, SO REGISTER EARLY! ADDITIONAL DAY ATTENDANTS ARE WELCOME (price remains the same). Again, EARLY REGISTRATION IS ADVISED.

About the facilitator: John Terlazzo is a poet, painter, singer/songwriter & storyteller who performs & records with his band, VOICES IN THE HALL. John has led The Retreat for 26+ years, as well as workshops, with people of all ages & in all walks of life - the general public, with psycho-therapists & with those suffering from mental illnesses, in hospitals & wellness & retreat centers & at the Women's Resource Center at GBMC.

TO REGISTER: Please send a check or money order for $160 (or $200 after 8/21), made out to
